The Fort Worth Cats won their first professional baseball championship in 57 years when they beat the San Angelo Colts 7 to 2 on this day in 2005. The victory by the Cats came in game 5 of the Central Baseball League Championship series and was played at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, Texas. The last title for a Fort Worth team occurred in 1948 when the Cats team was a member of the Texas League. In 2006, Fort Worth joined the 10 team American Association of the Independent League.
